摘要: In this paper, a new seamless and adaptive LOD (Level of Details) modelling method global terrain based on the QTM (Quaternary Triangular Mesh) is described. Our approach starts with tessellation WGS84 ellipsoidal surface. Thus, can be represented by an array elevation values vertices. Next, idea Binary Triangle Tree inserted in model to form adaptive, continuous, uniform triangular mesh DEM grids their vertices completely coincide QTM. The experiment analysis are carried out data, GTOPO30. results illustrate that: (1) seamless, hierarchical, regular over whole Earth, dataset occupies only about half its initial size; (2) data blocks constructed problem discontinuity different subdivision levels overcome; (3) number triangles decreases greatly as error tolerances increase, but there no obvious change
