摘要: Cisplatin is one of the most potent and effective chemotherapeutic agents. However, its antineoplastic use limited due to cumulative nephrotoxic side effects. Therefore, present study was undertaken examine nephroprotective potential dietary bee honey royal jelly against subchronic cisplatin toxicity in rats. Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into controls, cisplatin-treated, honey-pretreated cisplatin-treated jelly-pretreated groups. Bee given orally at doses 20 100 mg/kg, respectively. Subchronic induced by (1 mg/kg bw, ip), twice weekly for 10 weeks. treated animals revealed a significant increase serum level renal injury products (urea, creatinine uric acid). Histopathologically, produced pronounced tubulointerstitial injuries, upregulated fibrogenic factors, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1), downregulated cell proliferation marker, bromodeoxyuridine (Brdu). Dietary normalized elevated product biomarkers, improved histopathologic changes, reduced expression α-SMA TGF-β1 increased Brdu. it could be concluded that honey, used as preventive natural cisplatin-induced injury.
