摘要: Endothelial cells of the arterial vascular system and heart contain straight actin filament bundles, which there are few, if any, in venous endothelium1–4. Since stress fibre-containing endothelial within tend to be located at sites exposed particularly high shear blood flow, we have investigated, an experimental rheological (Fig. 1), response skeleton controlled levels fluid stress. Here report that fibres can induced by a 3-h exposure confluent monolayer cultures human endothelium 2 dynes cm−2, approximately occurring arteries vivo. Fourfold lower normally occur only veins, had no significant effect on system. The formation critical is probably functionally important mechanism protects from hydrodynamic injury detachment.
