摘要: Valproic acid (VPA)-a short branched chain fatty (BCFA), is widely recognized as an anticonvulsant and a mood-stabilizing drug, but various adverse effects of VPA have also been investigated. However, the impact BCFAs aggregation on brain cells, in pathogenesis neurodegeneration remains elusive. The objective this study to understand cellular mechanisms underlying VPA-induced neuronal cell death mediated by oxidative stress, neuroprotective role exogenous melatonin treatment death. Neurotoxicity protective exerted were assessed vitro SH-SY5Y cells vivo cerebral cortex cerebellum regions Wistar rat brain. results show that pre-treatment protects from toxicity exerting anti-apoptotic anti-inflammatory effect regulating apoptotic proteins pro-inflammatory cytokines. findings present emphasize novel insights supplement for prevention dysfunction induced VPA.
