摘要: Publisher Summary Biological membranes due to the lipid component are flexible self-sealing boundaries that form permeability barrier for cells and organelles. They provide means compartmentalize functions, but at same time they perform many other duties. As a support both integral peripheral membrane processes, physical properties of directly affect these processes in ways often difficult assess. Each specialized has unique structure, composition, function. Within each exists microdomains such as rafts, domains, organizations membrane-associated complexes with their own composition. Lipids complex hydrophobic-hydrophilic solvent within which proteins fold function, act more specific manner determining final protein organization orientation membrane. These diverse functions lipids made possible by family low-molecular-weight molecules physically fluid deformable enable interaction macromolecules. Defining function is challenging undertaking because diversity chemical fact type potentially involved various levels cellular
