Laser ablation and mechanical scribing in the amorphous alloys VAC 6030 and METGLAS 2605 SC

摘要: Abstract Mechanical or laser scribing has been applied to VAC6030 and METGLAS 2605 SC assess the possibility of optimising their properties for magnetic switching applications. The work indicates that no beneficial effect on either material in contrast other reported works. No change was observed VAC 6030 whilst became magnetically harder. It is proposed stress related. perpendicular casting direction gave similar results work, supporting hypothesis ablation being a purely effect. Modificationof surface morphology by chemical etching shown indication enhanced properties.
