Inhibition of chloride pitting corrosion of tin in alkaline and near neutral medium by some inorganic anions

摘要: Abstract The effect of dichromate, chromate, molybdate, nitrite and nitrate anions on the chloride pitting corrosion tin in each following solutions: Na2CO3 (pH = 10.9), Na2B4O7 8.35) Na2SO4 6.8) (each solution containing 0.1 M NaCl) has been studied. potentiodynamic technique was used, complemented by X-ray SEM. Addition increasing concentrations Cr2O72−, CrO42− or MoO42− caused a shift potential (Epit) positive direction indicating inhibitive added corrosion. absorption characteristics these metal surface plays significant role inhibition. NO2− anion little but NO3− is ineffective as an inhibitor, actually increases ions other aggressive solutions completely suppressed at concentration $ /0.01 sodium dichromate. MoO4− species limits growth passive film, restricts Cl− inhibits
