摘要: PURPOSE The objective of this study is to evaluate the suitability and performance ultra-short echo time (UTE) sequences for imaging quantifying deposition nebulized MRI contrast agents in human-sized lungs. METHODS Nebulization clinically used agent or gadolinium-based nanoparticles were performed using a commercial jet nebulizer isolated ventilated porcine lungs connected 3D-printed human upper airways replica. MR images acquired on 3T clinical scanner 3D UTE at different flip angles. RESULTS acquisitions with isotropic millimetric resolution obtained less than 4 min. Images exhibit homogeneous large signal enhancement (above 200%) following nebulization both types aerosols. Deposition aerosol down level bronchi secondary lobules was visualized. T1 values concentration by found correlate amount gadolinium3+ ions. CONCLUSION distribution aerosolized can be visualized quantified animal lung model scanner. This protocol assessing regional high spatial (1 mm isotropic) without ionizing radiation could applied future diagnostic therapeutic applications patients.
