摘要: ABSTRACT We reported in previous publications that the mouse submaxillary salivary glands contain a Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) which specifically enhances growth and differentiative processes of embryonic some mature nerve cells most vertebrates, man included. The NGF was identified as protein localized tubular portion glands. Since it found higher concentration male than female gland, we suggested production or accumulation storage this is under control hormone. sexual dimorphism investigated by fractionating soluble proteins gland extracts on DEAE column. Marked differences were between chromatographic patterns. Both protease activity are present at lower both increase sharply upon testosterone treatment. Further evidence for localization component presented. shown to be venous arterial blood vessels role played maintaining level thereby demonstrated. work described paper supported grants from National Institute Neurological Disease Blindness, Public Health Service (NB-01602–06), Science Foundation (G-13946).
