摘要: Adjunctive immunotherapy with heat-killed Mycobacterium vaccae was studied in a randomized, placebo-controlled trial of 120 non-human immunodeficiency virus-infected adults newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis. Patients were randomized to single dose M. or placebo 1 week after beginning chemotherapy and followed up for year. safe well tolerated. The rate sputum culture conversion month tuberculosis treatment 35% the group only 14% (P = .01) but comparable at 2 months thereafter. receiving had greater improvement on chest radiography 6 (91% vs. 77% recipients; P .04) 12 (94% 80%; initiation treatment. These data provide evidence an early increase radiographic among patients who received vaccae. Further studies are warranted.
