摘要: PRIMARY in vitro immune responses of human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL), desirable for both basic and clinical studies, have been rather difficult to achieve. Positive results were obtained when other stimulatory factors, besides antigen, given the cells1,2, reports suggested a critical role antigen presentation concentration3,4. In view difficulty encountered stimulating an antibody response with alone, we attempted use Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) together sheep red cells (SRBC) induce specific response. Human B possess membrane receptors EBV5,6 stimulates DNA synthesis PBL7, so EBV provides ‘nonspecific’ stimulus addition one by antigen. We report here that SRBC this way consistently induces anti-SRBC from PBL.
