摘要: Abstract As countries seek to adopt cleaner energy sources, a key question that is often asked what the avoided emissions from switch non-fossil based sources are. There no standard approach tackle this problem. The most common approach, which known as primary equivalent (PEE) estimates emission reductions by computing amount of CO2 would have been emitted fossil fuels had renewables or nuclear not used. Another Equal Share (ES) on change in share energy. two approaches some limitations, more comprehensive index decomposition analysis (IDA) proposed an alternative, together with extension quantify substitution amongst sources. A comparison assumptions and features all three presented. study finds IDA favoured for its ability identify policy intervention areas beyond well-suited tracking progress towards reduction targets analysing future scenarios.
