Polypoid spindle-cell carcinoma (pleomorphic carcinoma)

摘要: A case of spindle-cell carcinoma (pleomorphic carcinoma), a rare polypoid tumor the tongue, is reported. The characteristic clinical, gross, and microscopic features this peculiar lesion its common sites location are presented. Sites apparent transition between spindle cell overlying epithelium were observed in light sections, electron micrographs portion demonstrated presence tonofilaments desmosomes many cells. These findings support concept that group lesions pleomorphic variants squamous-cell with predominantly pattern. Current evidence also suggests metaplastic transformation cells into mesenchymal may take place some these lesions, "metaplastic carcinoma" probably be more proper designation for them.
