摘要: Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of crenotherapy on olfactory performance elderly patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Study Design A longitudinal case-control study a cohort affected by CRS and dysfunction assessed Sniffin' Sticks (Burghart Medical Technology, Wedel, Germany) (SS) test. Methods One hundred thirty-seven subjects were divided into two groups. The investigational arm (n = 69) underwent hyperthermal water, rich in mineral salts, control group (n = 68) NaCl 0.9% both for 12 days. At baseline at 1 6 months after treatment, groups ear nose throat assessment SS. Self-report questionnaires administered to patients' own response, treatment their degree tolerability. Olfactory was then evaluated hyposmia without (n = 40) younger (n = 40). Results No adverse reactions reported crenotherapy. SS total score showed that induced statistically significant improvement function CRS. By contrast, no observed All good tolerability. Conclusions We demonstrated effectively improves Finally, our suggests represents safe therapeutic strategy elderly. Level Evidence 3B. Laryngoscope, 125:1529–1534, 2015
