摘要: Farnesyltransferase and geranylgeranyltransferase inhibitors have remarkable potential for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular disease, a wide range other disorders. The objective this introductory chapter is to set development these prenylation within general context contemporary drug discovery, covering major drivers unmet medical need, commercial imperatives, intellectual challenge, focusing on issues surrounding signal transduction in particular. emphasis small molecule drugs, but much relevant approaches with higher molecular weight agents, such as antibodies, therapeutic proteins, antisense oligonucleotides, gene therapy.
