摘要: Abstract Purpose: To examine the sites of pelvic recurrence in patients with rectal cancer previously untreated radiotherapy to determine relative frequency and location within pelvis. Methods Materials: The records locally recurrent referred three radiation oncology departments between 1984 1997 were reviewed. data collected included date type initial resection pathologic findings. site pelvis, presence metastasis, documented. Results: A total 269 included. Tumor had invaded through muscularis 74% involved other organs 9%. Fifty-two percent node positive at surgery. median time local from surgery was 18 months (range 15–20) death 14 12–17). Both tumor stage influenced pelvis ( p Conclusion: If those T4 tumors presentation excluded, 89% at, or posterior to, anastomosis. Furthermore, if we exclude both who underwent abdominoperineal presentation, rate increases 93%. anteriorly (7%) does not justify routine anterior beyond that required adequately cover anastomotic site.
