摘要: The effect of fibre orientation on the dry sliding wear continuous B(SiC) reinforced aluminium alloy composites was investigated using a pin-on-disc testing machine. metal-matrix (MMC) samples were tested in normal (N), parallel (P) and antiparallel (AP) orientations against steel counter disc at fixed speed 1 m s−1 under loads from 12 to 60 N. results showed that for matrix MMCs, average increased linearly with load. Wear MMCs insensitive content but contents or above minimum 16 vol% used this work, rate about 18% unreinforced matrix. Fibre had minor rate; N gave lowest AP slightly higher P significantly higher. coefficients friction decreased non-linearly load, either variable. It concluded these metallographic examination mechanism essentially oxidative hard fibres modified different degrees depending their relative surface direction.
