摘要: THE mechanism of sexual reproduction among malaria parasites is coming under increasing scrutiny. Gametogenesis being unravelled by electron microscopy1 and kinetic studies2. Gametocytogenesis on the other hand remains poorly understood in spite earlier work3–5. The development Plasmodium falciparum gametocytes particularly intriguing because man they develop deep tissue spaces, especially spleen bone marrow. immature stages only rarely appear peripheral blood as a result have escaped detailed experimental investigation until now. Furthermore, it has long been suspected that their prolonged5, taking 8–12 d, although there are suggestions to contrary6,7. Immature P. recently reported cultures thought be composed asexual parasites8. I used similar microculture technique which permitted vitro morphologically mature present here some preliminary observations process gametocytogenesis infections.
