摘要: Traditionally academics were identified as white males and universities across the nation have made efforts to change makeup of their traditional male faculty into one that reflects diverse backgrounds. This diversity is often obtained through initiatives strategies specifically focused on increasing numbers color campuses. Despite a discerned effort, current representation very low many believe reason due focusing recruitment rather than retention African American (Thompson, 2008; Trower & Chait, 2002). Further, despite anti-discrimination legislation, affirmative action initiatives, higher Black students graduating with doctorates, are underrepresented in colleges (Allen, Epps, Guillory, Suh, Bonous-Hammarth, 2000).
