Med. 28, 1241–1248 (2011) Abstract Aims  Cardiovascular autonomic function is often assessed in patients with diabetes by measuring heart rate variability and baroreflex sensitivity, the heritability of which not fully understood. The present study was aimed to determine effects genetic environmental factors on sensitivity monozygotic dizygotic adult healthy twin pairs. Methods  A total 101 (63 monozygotic, 38 dizygotic) pairs (n = 202; mean age 44.3 years) were investigated. Anthropometric variables serum metabolic markers measured, while characteristics evaluated questionnaires. Linear spectral indices determined non-invasive methods. All measurements adjusted for gender (model 1) all significantly relevant covariates (model 2). Heritability A-C-E structural equation models used characterizing proportion additive genetic, shared unshared influences. Results  Genetic influence different cardiovascular estimated between 10.3 39.4%, common found 0.0 33.2%, observed 60.6 81.4% model 1 analysis. In multivariable-adjusted estimates (model 2), magnitude decreased 0.0%, nearly unchanged (values 4.4 14.5%), slightly increased 85.5 96.5%). Conclusions  Unshared but have substantial function, suggesting that appropriate treatment modifiable importance order prevent or ameliorate neuropathy.
