The Impacts of Seismic Activities on Marine Life and its Environment

摘要: Oil Exploration and drilling, a leading factor of seismic blasting occurs in number forms. Seismic include among others; exploration, laying pipes cables, creating underwater tunnels for mining other geological purposes. During the process several sources having different energy levels frequency characteristics are used land Marine reflection surveys. The common types explosives, vibroseis, airgun, watergun ,boomers, sparkers etc . In Niger delta region Nigeria, activities oil gas production transportation is daily taking place. This activity has posed marine sea floor hazards on immediate environment. Also these adverse effects man, water quality, animals, birds, aquatic plants, fish, mammals entire Crops vegetation around environment cannot thrive well due to exploration impact, invasion oil/spill, flare, hydrocarbons metals. These work discuses its mitigation measures that can be taken reduce this hazardous trend.
