Effects of a restricted work-site smoking policy on employees who smoke.

摘要: OBJECTIVES. This study evaluated the biological and subjective consequences observed in individual smokers after implementation of a workplace smoking-restriction policy. METHODS. Employees were for 4 weeks before their became smoke-free (n = 34). A comparison group whose work-site smoking was unrestricted served as controls 33). Daily exposure to tobacco constituents withdrawal effects measured. RESULTS. Smokers at restricted site had verified reduction (mean four cigarettes per day) significantly reduced nicotine carbon monoxide during work shift. There increases ratings some common symptoms (cravings/urges, concentration difficulties, increased eating, depression). No evidence compensatory nonwork hours found.
