摘要: The prevalence of gastrointestinal amyloid was determined in 110 consecutive autopsy patients aged 85 years and older. Paraffin sections from the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon rectum were stained with Congo red inspected polarized light. Amyloid found 38 (36%). Four had generalized amyloidosis remaining 34 revealed more localized varieties amyloid. Immunohistochemical classification a panel antisera directed against five major fibril proteins displayed at least four different types Twenty cases exhibited transthyretin origin, lambda light chain origin one case A-type. Thus far, unclassifiable deposits 18 cases, 16 which strictly subserosal veins. This series compared 98 randomly-selected bioptical tissues according to distribution pattern, sex, frequency various associated diseases.
