摘要: A population of 164 adult individuals resident in an area endemic for Brugia malayi lymphatic filariasis has been studied humoral immune responses to filarial parasites. Antibody levels Ag extracted from worms were determined each the IgG subclasses, IgM and IgE. The dominant isotype antifilarial antibody was IgG4, which represented 88% total asymptomatic microfilaremics, most whom possessed 100 1000 micrograms/ml specific this subclass (geometric mean 762 micrograms/ml). Patients with chronic disease (elephantiasis), who generally amicrofilaremic, had substantially higher IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, but a 3.4-fold lower geometric level IgG4 (222 micrograms/ml) than asymptomatics or without microfilaremia. In contrast, IgE cases elephantiasis on average 4.5 times those found carrier state. majority microfilaremics therefore typified by extremely high concentrations relatively low reactivities, whereas clinical tended show reverse relationship. possible roles these isotypes implications changing IgG4/IgE balances are discussed.
