摘要: This longitudinal study examines how extracurricular activity involvement contributes to “educational resilience”—the unexpected educational attainments of adolescents who are otherwise vulnerable curtailed school success due personal- and social-level risks. Educationally youth characterized by significant risks an absence assets were identified during early adolescence (approximately age 14) using measures academic motivation, achievement, mental health as well family, school, peer contexts. Using a mixture variable- pattern-centered analytic techniques, we investigate both the total amount time that spent in positive activities specific pattern their late 17) predict subsequent enrollment college adulthood (up through approximately 21). Educational resilience was predicted uniquely some, but not all, patterns. These results suggest settings afford developmentally appropriate experiences promote persistence healthy development.
