摘要: This study investigates the spatial distribution and basic characteristics of 2692 forest fires between 2000 2011 in Attica, Greece, a rapidly expanding urban region. Fire variables were assessed, together with describing socio-economic local context three distinct periods Athens’ expansion (2000–2003: semi-compact economic growth before 2004 Olympic Games; 2004–2007: infrastructure development discontinuous following 2008–2011: crisis-driven decline construction industry). changed over negative trends industry. Burnt areas decreased rural area around Athens opposite pattern was observed peri-urban belt. Our findings suggest that temporal Attica reflects boom stimulated by Games subsequent crisis.
