摘要: SUMMARY Iron (Fe) overload is proposed as a factor increasing cardiovascular risk. Erythrocyte protoporphyrin (EP) was studied an alternative test for serum ferritin (SF), usually used to assess Fe stores. Blood samples from volunteer donors: men (V) (n=183; 19-64 y) and women (M) (n=75; 18-59 were analyzed Hematocrit (electronic counter MAXM de Coulter ) EP by Piomelli’s (μg EP/dL erythrocytes); in serum, C-Reactive Protein (PCR) (PCR-latex, Wiener lab) SF (IMMULITE Ferritin, DPC) determined. data healthy children (N) (n=51,<3 taken previous studies. correlated inversely Log-Log type curve: Log = a. LogSF + b (p<0.0001). The lines intersect at 21 μg /dL erythrocytes 630 μg/L compatible with overload. These results suggest screening non invasive the assessment of high stores adult population.
