摘要: The cotton-top tamarin is a nonhuman primate noted for susceptibility to juvenile onset colitis and subsequent colon cancer. About 80% develop in captive environments outside the tropics. aim was determine prevalence of colorectal cancer tamarins living wild their tropical habitat. Endoscopic biopsy used compare severity colitis, inflammatory/immune cell densities, mucosal dysplasia, occurrence habitat with temperate climate. Six biopsies from each 69 captives showed severe 64.5% moderate 19.5%. Severe not found 88 tamarins; 13% had colitis. Densities polymorphonuclear leukocytes, plasma cells, mononuclear cells lamina propria were related directly four grades (normal, mild, moderate, severe). Histologic or gross signs carcinoma detected 12 low- high-grade dysplasia 15. Neither nor any tamarins. observations suggest that model are linked environmental factors.
