摘要: Resource constrained wireless sensor networks (WSN) require an energy efficient medium access control (MAC) protocol that minimizes the radio active time (duty cycle). Time slotted MAC schemes provide lowest duty cycles by dividing into consecutive data exchange and sleep periods. Synchronization for network maintenance is achieved exchanging beacons. For detecting changes in topology, nodes periodically perform scanning during which beacons are received from neighbors. This consuming, required equals to transmission of thousands packets. paper shows consumption mainly depending on beacon rate, optimal rate a function three parameters: interval, energy, reception power. The derived TUTWSN prototype power analysis models. According analysis, optimization decreases average up order magnitude. prototype, 3.7 Hz, when performed with 2 minutes intervals
