Assessment of knowledge and practice of menstrual hygiene among high school girls in Western Ethiopia

摘要: The issue of menstrual hygiene is inadequately acknowledged and has not received proper attention. Use sanitary pads washing the genital area are essential practices to keep hygiene. Unhygienic can affect health girls there an increased vulnerability reproductive tract infections pelvic inflammatory diseases other complications. Therefore, objective this study was assess knowledge practice among high school at Nekemte town, Oromia region, Western Ethiopia. A based cross-sectional design employed in Town, multi stage sampling technique used select 828 female students. Data collection carried out from May 04 30, 2014 using a pre- tested structured questionnaire. data were entered into computer Epi-info version 3.5.1 then exported SPSS for Windows 20.0 analysis. Bivariate multivariate logistic regression analysis done 95 % confidence interval. In study, 504 (60.9 %) 330 (39.9 %) respondents had good respectively. findings showed significant positive association between menstruation educational status mothers (AOR = 1.51, CI = 1.02 – 2.22), having radio/TV (AOR = 2.42, CI: 1.64 3.56). Educational mother (AOR = 2.03, CI = 1.38 2.97) earning permanent pocket money parents (AOR = 2.73, CI = 1.76 4.26) revealed with that low. Awareness regarding need information about very important. So, education program should be setup create awareness
