Unresolved Complexity in Assessments of Mineral Resource Depletion and Availability

摘要: Considerations of mineral resource availability and depletion form part a diverse array sustainable development-oriented studies, across domains such as criticality, life cycle assessment material flow analysis. Given the multidisciplinary nature these it is important that common understanding complexity nuances supply chains be developed. In this paper, we provide brief overview approaches expand on several areas are conceptually difficult to account for in studies. These include dynamic relationships between reserves, resources, cut-off grades ore grades; ability local economic, social environmental factors when performing global assessments; role technology improvements play increasing economically extractable resources. Advancing knowledge may further enhance sophistication interpretation studies assess or availability.
