摘要: Lingula is often considered a "living-fossil" based on its supposed lengthy morphological conservatism owing to absence of evolution, and remarkable survival for more than 550 M.Y. This conclusion the typical apparently unchanged "linguliform" shape shell. However taxa family Lingulidae show evolutionary changes despite fact that group appears panchronic among Recent Brachiopoda. Consequently, traditional opinion should be rejected. Diagnoses Family three genera are herewith emended.
