摘要: PURPOSE. To compare the magnitude and time course of nearwork-induced transient myopia (NITM) in preadolescent Hong Kong Chinese myopes emmetropes. METHOD. Forty-five children, 35 10 emmetropes aged 6 to 12 years (median, 7.5), monocularly viewed a letter target through Badal lens for 5 minutes at either 5.00- or 2.50-D accommodative demand, followed by 3 viewing equivalent optical infinity. Accommodative responses were measured continuously with modified, infrared, objective open-field autorefractor. also countercondition: infinity, 5.00-D demand. The results compared tonic accommodation both subject family history refractive error. RESULTS. Retinal-blur-driven NITM was significantly greater children myopic vision than after near tasks, but showed no significant dose effect. still evident task minutes. correlated drift distant more 4 minutes, unrelated subjects' CONCLUSIONS. In ethnic population known predisposition myopia, there is posttask blur-driven NITM, which sustained longer has previously been found white adults.
