摘要: Background: Heart disease is the leading cause of death in schizophrenia. Aims: We investigated cardiac structure and function patients with schizophrenia using magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) after excluding medical metabolic comorbidity. Methods: 80 participants underwent CMR to determine biventricular volumes measures blood pressure, physical activity, glycated haemoglobin levels. Patients controls were matched for age, sex, ethnicity, body surface area. Results: had significantly smaller indexed left ventricular (LV) end-diastolic volume, end-systolic stroke right (RV) volume but unaltered ejection fractions relative controls. LV concentricity septal thickness larger The findings largely unchanged adjusting smoking or exercise levels independent medication dose duration. Conclusions: show evidence prognostically-adverse remodelling compared controls, conventional risk factors.
