摘要: Protein synthesis in skeletal muscle was studied patients after elective abdominal surgery, using the concentration and size distribution of ribosomes. The were given either an electrolyte solution or total parenteral nutrition postoperatively. analyses performed on biopsy specimens taken prior to surgery days 1 3 following surgery. The percentage content polyribosomes, ribosome polyribosome concentrations per milligram tissue DNA determined. Elective caused a significant decrease (p < 0.05) three variables. Total did not prevent decrease. negative nitrogen balance significantly improved by nutrition, but it reach equilibrium. results show that postoperatively maintain protein activity muscle. improvement suggests amino acids are utilized tissues othe...
