摘要: Purpose: Apoptosis is a morphologically distinct form of programmed cell death that plays major role in cellular development and homeostasis. In this study, we examined the apoptosis may have pathogenesis atherosclerosis. Methods: We immunohistochemically 20 normal carotid arteries 86 patients (mean age, 68 years; range, 52 to 80 years) who underwent atherectomy for primary The expression two genes, BCL2, which inhibits apoptosis, BAX, induces was correlated presence risk factors included hypertension, smoking, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus. Results: BAX found 26 cases (30%), no immunoreactivity specimens. BCL2 not seen any tissues (atherosclerotic or arteries). Of expressed gene, 22 were hypertensive (85%), hypertension (>160/95 mm Hg) present 25 60 (41%) did express gene (p < 0.01). No significant correlation between other (smoking, mellitus) presenting symptoms. Conclusions: number stenosed evidence suggested by expression. Hypertension more prevalent those with than without expression, found. Further study phenomenon contribute discovery new treatments (J Vasc Surg 1998;27:733-9.)
