摘要: Nationally, there is growing public interest in and policy pressure for developing alternative renewable sources of energy. Wind energy facilities the Pacific Northwest expanded rapidly over past decade, as a result state policies that encourage wind development. While much development thus far has occurred on private lands, expanding onto federal land. However, are concerns about impacts wildlife. have potential to harm wildlife both directly through collisions with turbines transmission lines, indirectly by modifying habitat. This report synthesizes available scientific literature facility wildlife, focus (Oregon Washington), summarizes current best management practices recommended guidelines Research gaps our understanding remain. Future research needs include long-term, multisite, experimental studies improved ability estimate population-level cumulative better knowledge key species’ migration demography.
