Wettability study of clofazimine and poly(vinyl methyl ether/maleic anhydride) copolymer coevaporates

摘要: Abstract Solid coevaporates of the antileprotic drug, clofazimine, with a poly(vinyl methyl ether/maleic anhydride) copolymer (PVM/MA, Mol Wt 20 000) were prepared by solvent evaporation method. TThe drug/polymer carrier weight ratios in examined 1:5, 1:10 and 1:20. The effect hydrophilic PVM/MA on surface characteristics hydrophobic rug clofazimine was studied performing contact angle measurements tablets compressed from powders both pure components (drug carrier) their coevaporates. Contact angles, τ, sessile drops distilled water acidic, neutral alkaline aqueous solution, previously used as dissolution media for coevaporates, determined at 37°C. It found that τ decreased (i.e wettability increased) increasing content. is consistent results obtained relevant powder samples.
