摘要: Abstract This paper briefly explores the expected impact of ‘Global Drivers’ (such as population demographics, food security; energy community security and safety), role sustainability engineering in mitigating potential effects these Global Drivers. The message is that requires a significant input from Ergonomics/Human Factors, but profession needs some expansion its thinking order to make this contribution. Creating future sustainable world which people experience an acceptable way life will not happen without large manufacturing industry into all Drivers, both delivering products meet criteria durability, reliability, minimised material requirement low consumption), developing processes deliver for minimum waste, emissions consumption). Appropriate changes are already being implemented industry, including new business models, jobs skills. Considerable high-level planning around progress bringing about changes; example, there US ‘Advanced Manufacturing National Program’ (AMNP)’, German ‘Industrie 4.0’ plan, French plan ‘la nouvelle France industrielle’ UK Foresight publications on ‘Future Manufacturing’. All activities recognise central part humans continue play paradigms; however, they do discuss many issues systems ergonomics professionals acknowledge. discusses number issues, highlighting need knowledge capture by professionals. Among ethical job content skills issues. Towards end, summary extensions considered necessary ergonomists can be fully effective environment, together with suggestions means acquire disseminate extensions.
