摘要: African Americans, particularly men, have the highest morbidity and mortality rates from hypertension in United States. The authors studied 527 Americans a general clinical research center to determine whether there are sex differences relationships between with insulin resistance (IR) aldosterone, which risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Measurements included ambulatory blood pressure (BP), anthropometric measures, plasma renin activity, aldosterone (PA) concentration, fasting serum lipids, glucose, insulin. IR was estimated using Homeostasis Model Assessment (HOMA) model. BP correlated both sexes. However, PA but not women.
