摘要: Malignant transformation of benign epidermoid cysts is rare and their prognosis remains poor. A 56-year-old woman presented with left facial hypoesthesia photophobia in the eye. She had undergone removal a cyst cerebellopontine angle 8 years previously. Magnetic resonance imaging brain revealed cystic lesion angle. The wall was enhanced by gadolinium-DTPA. underwent again histopathologic diagnosis squamous cell carcinoma. Gamma knife radiosurgery performed on remnant marginal dose 15 Gy. tumor shrank rapidly for 2 months after radiosurgery, but recurred 9 later. 12 gradual increase size seen during 4-month follow-up period subsequent to second radiosurgery. Careful observation, employing serial magnetic images, necessary incompletely resected because intervals before malignant reportedly range from 3 33 years. Newly identified contrast enhancement strongly indicates change cysts. may be useful short-term control intracranial carcinomas, long-term effects are presently unknown.
