摘要: The ob gene product leptin is thought to play a physiological role in the fine tuning of homeostatic mechanism regulating satiety and adiposity. Mouse recombinant was administered seasonally hyperphagic arctic ground squirrels as first step demonstrating evolutionary conservation function potential involvement seasonal regulation adiposity hibernators. Continuous infusion for 3 wk via miniosmotic pumps resulted reduction food intake body weight manner consistent with its proposed hormone. During recovery period after administration, that had received became relative controls. Percent fat estimated at weekly intervals by measuring total electrical conductivity decreased administration. Our observations support regulatory hormone involved control satiety, adiposity, possibly energy expenditure hibernating mammals.
