Trends in Corneal Transplantation from 2001 to 2016 in Germany: A Report of the DOG–Section Cornea and its Keratoplasty Registry

摘要: Purpose The purpose of this retrospective panel study was to provide an overview absolute numbers and trends in the types indications for corneal transplantation Germany from 2001 2016. Methods A questionnaire about numbers, transplantation, sent 111 ophthalmologic departments Germany, out which 94 (85%) provided their data. Results Since year 2001, number transplantations has increased by 1.5-fold, 4730 penetrating keratoplasties (PKPs) 7325 lamellar shift procedures began 2006. In 2014, (231 [4%] anterior 2883 [49%] posterior keratoplasties) surpassed PKPs (2721, 47%) first time. Main keratoplasty (2016) are Fuchs endothelial dystrophy (46%), pseudophakic decompensation (bullous keratopathy, 13%), repeated after graft failure (11%), keratoconus (8%), scarring (6%; others: 16%). Descemet membrane (DMEKs) 12 times higher (3850, 53%) than stripping automated (DSAEKs, 319, 4.4%) proportion deep (DALKs) never exceeded 6% (269 2011). Conclusions have PKPs. There a constant increase DMEKs, with 12-fold compared DSAEKs shorter recovery time DMEK seems contribute trend toward earlier operative intervention diseases.
