摘要: Summary An earlier suggestion that guanidine may inhibit picornavirus replication by interfering with a monovalent cation-mediated event was tested determining the effect of varying cation concentration in isotonic medium on sensitivity poliovirus HeLa cells to 0.2 mm-guanidine. Lowering [Na+] 50 mm had no virus replication. It found degree inhibition mm-guanidine inversely related medium: 99.8%, 99.1%, 38% and 0% presence 50, 75, 100 145 mm-Na+ respectively. Likewise, uptake also medium. On other hand, lowering or 75 resulted reduced intracellular [K+]. The increased low Na+ could be abolished excess K+ such Excess restored uptake.
