摘要: The effect of guanidine on the replication group A arboviruses, Sindbis virus, and Semliki Forest virus (SFV) was studied. Guanidine rapidly, but reversibly, inhibited SFV ribonucleic acid (RNA) synthesis. synthesis all species viral RNA inhibited, that ribonuclease-resistant forms least affected. This inhibition occurred when drug added at any point during log phase growth. growth also markedly unimpaired. Infection guanidine-treated cells with viruses together resulted in a significant yields both. It appears that, case is ordinarily produced such excess its does not reduce yields. In SFV, distorts pattern by greatly decreasing production 26S interjacent form. may account for observed presence guanidine.
