摘要: The effect of irregularities due to the non-uniform distribution material properties on structural elements a significant real case is here investigated. Mechanical tests performed typical Italian reinforced concrete (r.c.) school building built in 1960s showed irregularity compression strength columns, even though construction featured by substantially symmetric frames. Extreme scenarios columns are analyzed, with hypothesis rigid or deformable slabs. seismic analysis influence response irregular distributions strength. A proposal equivalent “material eccentricity” shown account for mentioned irregularity. Furthermore, practical solution reinforcement mitigate effects also described. It consists couple external r.c. walls stiffened buttresses added building, connected transverse An extensive reduction eccentricity achieved, together relevant improvement capacity.
