摘要: Background Chitooligosaccharide (COS) has shown potential antihyperlipidemic activity in a few studies as functional food. Method We investigated the cholesterol-lowering effect and mechanisms of chitooligosaccharide capsules (COSTC) male SD rats fed high-fat diet. Results COSTC could ameliorate serum lipid levels. Simultaneously, is probably attributed to its role two pathways: upregulating gene expression cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1), liver X receptor alpha (LXRA), peroxisome proliferation activated receptor-α (PPARα), which facilitates conversion into bile acid; downregulating enzymes including 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) sterol-responsive element binding protein-2 (SREBP2) low-density lipoprotein (LDLR) reduce denovo synthesis cholesterol. Conclusion Studies have suggested that usefulness natural supplement or food for preventing treating hyperlipidemia.
