摘要: • Platelet monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity was investigated in a series of 60 patients with chronic schizophrenic illnesses free from neuroleptic medication, and 70 normal controls. No significant differences platelet MAO or substrate preference were detected between controls, using tryptamine tyramine as substrates. did not distinguish positive symptoms those negative alone show any relationship severity disease number clinical features. These findings suggest that low cannot be regarded genetic marker for schizophrenia. Important determinants yet to discovered may have contributed the discrepancies recent observations
