摘要: The pineal hormone melatonin has been implicated in the circadian regulation of sleep. In a crossover design, we investigated effect acute administration 5 mg and agonist (S-20098, 100 mg) healthy young men when given h before bedtime on sleep structure electroencephalogram (EEG) power density. Each trial comprised baseline, treatment, posttreatment episode. Relative to placebo condition, all treatments phase advanced core body temperature rhythm [Krauchi, K., C. Cajochen, D. Mori, Hetsch, A. Wirz-Justice. Sleep Res. 24: 526, 1995; Krauchi, Am. J. Physiol. 272 (Regulatory Integrative Comp. 41): R1178-1188, 1997]. Rapid eye movement (REM) was increased after both S-20098. This increase REM most pronounced first On night S-20098 administration, more wakefulness present latter one-half EEG density between 0.25 20 Hz during either non-REM (NREM) or did not differ from placebo. Thus single early evening dose increases propensity advances termination while, at same time, NREM remains unaffected.
