摘要: The lateral nucleus of the amygdala (LA) is implicated in emotional and social behaviors. We recently showed that horizontal brain slices, activation NMDA receptors (NMDARs) a requirement for persistent synaptic alterations LA, such as long-term potentiation (LTP) depression (LTD). In NR2A- NR2B-type NMDRs coexist synapses LA projection neurons. assessed contribution two NMDAR subtypes to LA-LTP LA-LTD adult mouse slices by different induction protocols inputs neurons presence subunit antagonists. general, our results indicate both NR2A NR2B subunits are required formation LA-LTD. abolishment or reduction plasticity changes these compounds could be due calcium influx via NMDARs. also show, knowledge first time, paired-pulse (40-msec interstimulus interval), low-frequency stimulation external capsule fibers causes stable LTD. Rather than resulting from exclusive roles subtypes, response appears directed pattern used inputs, which recruit major variable extents.
